Tech Talk
Racing season is here! With the start of the season you should make a few horsepower passes and evaluate all of your engine and chassis
settings before trying to set any personal best. Especially the nitrous racers out there. Take a few runs to look over spark plugs and make timing and NOS and fuel changes in small incriments. If you're in the northern part of our country it will take a few weeks for the tracks to get enough rubber down to enable you to really use all the power that the engine is safely able to produce. Pay attention to what the spark plugs and the et slip is trying to tell you. Look at all of the incremental et and mph from your et slip and keep an accurate run log book. Don't forget to chart all of the weather and track info into the run logs. By paying close attention to details you will be able to get the best performance that conditions allow. Also...don't beat yourself! I see too many racers that let themselves get distracted by the other drivers antics or try to overpower the track when the conditions deteriorate. Stay focused, be prepared and make yourself the person to beat by not giving anyone a freebie.
Racers pay attention to other racers that have their act together.
Make the other guy get a case of jitters and red light because you are cutting consistent lights and are running well on every pass.
Don't forget to do all of the between race inspection and maintenance that will make you a winner and keep your ride safe.
Good Luck, see you at the track!!
I welcome your Monday morning questions, but please keep good records from the track so we can work together to get the most from your ride!
Thanks,
Rick Roshto/MPG
